your case, listen to your broker! I don't short, but if i rem correctly.... once u short, the brokerage will buy at the close that day. So if you go and buy in somemore, you might be digging another hole.

best to call up your broker or the brokerage directly to check on the rules and on your situation (explain it to them). Don't ask them what to do....just ask them what you can do now.
