hahah gotgot... :P
Another metaphor from Master Zhuang Zi, the great Tao Philosopher who lived 2,500 years ago...
The rabbit wanted to have a race with the tortoise. To the rabbit's surprise, the tortoise agreed to the race.
As soon as the rabbit started running, the rabbit is naturally always ahead of the tortoise. About 1/3 of the race, the rabbit stop and looked back to see where is the slow tortoise. He shouted "Tortoise, where are you?" To his surprise, he heard a small voice from the front. It was the tortoise, who stick out his head and said, "Rabbit, I am in the bush ahead of you". The tortoise is ahead of the rabbit. Unbelievable but it is true!
So the rabbit continued running. After 2/3 of the race, the rabbit again looked behind and shouted "Tortoise, are you far behind me?" To his surprise heard a small tortoise voice from the grass in front saying "Rabbit, I am ahead of you". Unbelievable but true!
So the rabbit ran even faster. Finally when the rabbit reached the finishing line, he was very sure that he can't see any tortoise in front of him, so he looked back and was very happy that he was the winner. To his awe he again heard a small voice, it was the tortoise! The tortoise said with a feeble voice, "Rabbit, I was ahead of you 5 minutes ago!"
Unbelievable but true! Now the rabbit has to admit defeat. Despite him running faster, he could not beat the slow tortoise.
Sounds familiar? Despite you running very fast in your business or career, there is always something that has gotten ahead of you. This something that has got ahead of you could be your competitor, your colleague, your boss, your customer or even your knowledge. It could well be your COMPLACENCY.
To succeed in your business and career, you need to CONTINUE LEARNING. Never be complacent. Otherwise you would be like the rabbit, despite running so fast, still behind something.
