Minimum number of shares per transaction

Hi,

I am very very new to this stock and share biz and I would like to understand more.

So, can someone please let me know the minimum number of share that we need to purchase during one transaction?

Do we really need to buy 1 lot (1000 unit) at one time or can we just buy whichever amount that we like? Let say $1000 for a particular share or have to be 1000 units of the share?

Thanks and appreciated for your reply.

Have a nice day

yepyep...usually it's 1000, unless they state...like Singtel got Singtel100 which allows you to buy 1 lot of 100 shares.

ic,

so if let say the current price for UOB is 17.86, if I want to buy, then I have to pay 17860.00 for the 1 lot? And is this the minimum?

Thanks and for your advise please.

Have a nice day

hmmmm anything now is a gamble. u can try putting your funds in a money market fund first so that your capital is protected (gain about 2%), then buy when a better opportunity

Hi,

Really appreciated for your helps and advises.

Just to check also, what is actually the money market fund that your referring to? Is that unit trust? Can you please give me some example?

Actually i am looking for anything that can help me to generate income, for example the dividend. So, do you think i should be going into unit trusts or share?

For your advise please.

Thanks

yeah the two are unit trusts, blitz mentioned a money market fund here: http://www.singaporestocks.com.sg/op...ting-gold.html

money market's good because it's very low-risk, but currently i'm more bullish about gold, especially with the possibility of a recession...so im taking a look at

UOB United Gold & Precious Metals Fund, and
DWS Noor Precious Metals Sec Fd Cl J SGD

And still putting the rest of my cash (just a bit :P) into a money market fund for protection.

i think dividend giving stocks may become popular in a bear market because people will be flocking to them as a safer investment
