Keppel Corp Falls On Work Stoppage
Keppel Corp, the world's largest offshore rig builder, fell as much as 2.5 percent after it stopped work on a project which it had got from a company which was in financial difficulty. The firm was forced to cease construction of a floating heavy lifter after Norway's MPU Offshore filed for bankruptcy.
In a research report, JP Morgan estimated that the loss of the project would reduce Keppel's earnings by S$9 million for financial year 2008 and by S$13 million in 2009.
