Singapore's STI falls 6.5 pct, banks lead losses

SINGAPORE, Oct 28 (Reuters) - Singapore's Straits Times Index fell 6.5 percent in opening trade on Tuesday as losses in the country's banks dragged the benchmark index to its lowest level since August 2003. By 0104 GMT, the Straits Times Index was down 6.9 percent at 1,490.39 points.
